    Hello all,

Over the past month or two I have noticed that Kytten, who's a year and a half old, has been eating like a crazy woman. She scarfs down her wet food so fast and then is looking for more. She has access to dry food all the time but when it comes to feeding wet food (once in the morning and once at night) she act likes it's her first meal in days.

Should I be feeding her more or is she slowly training me to give her more wet food :)

Remember when she looked like this :)

LOL's. What are you feeding her? Sounds like she's enjoying good stuff! She looks stunningly beautiful and healthy in her pics. I wouldn't worry about her unless her weight starts to get out of control. What a cutie! :kiss_heart: :m10:

The cats eat Chicken Soup dry food and Fancy Feasts wet food. Kyttyn is very active and very physically fit. I just don't want her to train me to give her too much food but I would like to give her more. She's so funny when I feed her. She nudges my hand out of the way to start eating before I can even get the food out of the can.

and Kyttyn thanks you for the compliments....

Kytten looks pretty healthy. What a cutie. I give Socks and Mittens moist food twice a day and they have dry food out all the time, too. I give them a certain amount of the moist food and that is all they get until I give them a little more later. They never get seconds.

It seems to work out pretty good. Sounds like you are doing the right thing and your kitty doesn't look overweight. :)

we have a cat called 'kitten' (similar to the name 'kytten') and it looks a bit like yours. here is a picture..

Now that's crazy! You have a "kitten" AND they look alike too! Does she have white front paws too? How old is she? I love the set of white whiskers on the black face. What a beauty!

I'm not sure how to re-size. I use Photoisland.com and the picture always re-size themselves when I post them here. I tried to re-post your picture but it looks like photoisland is not working properly right now. I will try again tomorrow.

resized it with the help of villagephotos.
yes, kitten has front white paws and an unusually long tail like kytten. she's a bit sleeker/thinner now than in these pictures, like kytten too  i like kytten's round white spot on her chin, it goes with her wide-eyed look in the first picture.
she's about 7 and a half years old. she eats fast too.

In the first year of their life kittens grow like lil weeds. i'd say let em pig out all they want long as there is no sign of worms (which could cause heavy eating) or any other health problem.

Very beautiful kitties... black ones look so... mysterious and sleek.

hi wtpooh. oh goodnes...i just love kytten. she is just adorable. that little picture of her.

    btw...i love your taste...nice couch...(hee hee)

i feed max and mikey chicken soup dry...for kittens. about 3/4 cup each a day. they ususally have a tiny bit left...so that seems to be their baseline amount....but no wet. call me a mean mommy. they cant miss what they dont have...but i dont want to get them in a habit of going wild....max would eat anything in site. he wants to eat bread, vegetables, cheese dip, chips, soup, butter (he knows how to get the lid off the butter container in a second!) propel water (he runs up on the counter when i open a bottle) tapioca pudding, cinnamon muffins are his favorite thing to go after, and the list goes on....

i dont give him ANY people food...he'd be a maniac....

but the other issue is max and his diarrhea. i have really limited the wet food, to try and control the diarrhea and what may be causing it...but recently ive considered adding acidophalis to some wet food for him...because hes been on meds for so long.....

I too had thought about worms. She only acts this way when it's time for wet food though so I was more thinking she just loves the stuff and I wasn't feeding her enough. I feel like I should know the answer to this but I don't.....I know she has been treated for worm (that pinkish stuff they squirt into the mouth) but does that just eliminate worm that might exist or does it also prevent? I should check the stools in the litter box. Four cat + 3 litter boxes......ewww....but I will do it.

I also received a PM with the following message-
Anyone have any more info on this? Cats heartbeats are already something like 8 times that of a human right?...So how can I check this? Where exactly is the pulse point on a cat and what is the proper rate?

Lynn-I'm sorry to hear about Max...is this a recent issue? I'm sorry if I missed you posting about this before but I don't recall you talking about it. What had the vet said? Maybeeeeee he has also learned to open the fridge door and he's getting into that butter when your not looking :)

Thank you all for your replies. Just to be on the safe side I will try to get a stool sample and make an appt. with the vet for a check-up.

hi wtpooh...geez, i feel a little embarrassed that i totally missed the issue of her appetite....instead going on and on about max.

    i sure hope she's okay...i will say a little prayer. [-o<

shes such a doll...i love her. :kiss_heart: if she was at the shelter...where i volunteer...shed have a home in a heartbeat...and two brothers too!!! :p theyd be in seventh heaven...but i suspect she and max would find trouble at every turn....

i'll fill you in later about max's diarrhea. it was a very hard four months after i brought him home...at three months of age, he only weighed two pounds...tiny....not growing. :-&

hes been on meds since he was about 12 wks of age.... about five months...

anyway...hope you find the cause....maybe its just that she loves the food?? could it be that simple?? :0011: a fecal is a good idea. also maybe blood test just to make sure her levels all check out.
