Should I be Concerned?????

I have had my Max for 9 months and got him when he was 6 months old. When I first got Max he was very snuggly and loving and very lively. In the past couple of months, Max will barely let me hold him and rarely comes to me on his own for affection. I live alone and he is the only pet in the house. He has the run of the house, very good with his litter box use and seems to eat, drink, poo and pee normally, he is fixed and up to date with shots. I talk to him constantly while I am home, play a little (he will only play a few minutes), and make sure that he has toys to play with. He has been meowing a lot lately, which he rarely did. He bites more and more, not hard, but I still don't like it. I try to correct this by firmly saying no and moving my arm or leg, however, I won't hit or yell. I don't want him to be afraid of me. I have tried water, he actually likes that. Do you think there could be health issues that I need to be concerned about that has made him un-affectionate and also turned me into a human chew toy, or is this just normal cat behavior? Max is my first pet experience so I am learning as I go. Any input would be appreciated.

My cat, Kyrre, also have periodes where his mood swings. He has never started to bite, but have acted less affectionate then normal from time to time. Now he is his old, snuggly self again, lucky for me :) So it is normal. Other then that I don't know if it also may be caused by a health issue... Maybe you could call your vet and ask :?:

think of him as a 2 year old toddler who no longer wants to be cuddled, hugged, kissed.....what worked for me with Zeus at that age (and he has 28 claws) is I yelled loudly OUCH and he backed right off.
Zeus has 6 claws on each of his front paws and went he went in - he went in. Now if I say just ouch instead of OUCH he'll retract his claws and be much gentler... but always the word OUCH so they'll relate that. Say it hard and startle him the first few times. Took a few times for Zeus to understand OUCH meant back off pal - he learned it. Had to startle him a few times.

Is he neutered? Generally, unaltered adult males are not as affectionate as altered adult males.
I think it could have to do with his age. He is an adult now, not that adults are'nt cuddley but some might not be as cuddley and attention seeking as they were as kittens.

I am a converted non-cat person. And I have come to find that they want attention on THEIR terms. Copper doesn't really like to be picked up and snuggled at my leisure. But he curls up with me almost every night and will drive me nuts sometimes following me around--rubbing on my legs and standing on his hind legs pawing at me. But again--that's on his terms.
