One of the other foster moms thinks "Chomper" sounds like he bites people or something. I sort of agree, but it's growing on me and he seems to know his name. She suggested I change it to Chopper since it sounds almost the same. I tried to think of other names and the ones I came up with that I like for him are Charlie, Boomer and Shorty (I call him Short-Round, LOL).

Do you think I should change it, and if so, to what?

I'm thinking "Mr. Barky Pants" would not do him any good on the adoption front.

I thought about changing my dogs name, the shelter named her Krissie, Ive got nothing against the name its just not something I would have picked....I started calling her Krissi-Belle.

I did change my chihauhas name from Little Foot to Gypsy though, when I first got her she had a stud ear-ring in that weighed as much as she did (slight exaggeration!!!) so I renamed her and then removed the stud.

My Whippets name was Brownie, that got changed to Bonnie. I think the worst one I kept was Rambo, (worst name not the dog, he was awesome), it was a little embarrassing when I used to take him into the forrest,he'd disappear and Id be running around yelling " Come here Rambo" at the top of my lungs

I like Chomper, when people meet him it shouldnt take long for them to realize he's not a biter, with all the different names Ive heard for dogs Ive never been wary of a 'Chomper', its more of a cute, playful name. The ones I watch out for are Snapper, Killer, Bitey Face (there actually was a dog named that  ) and Nipper. I havent figured out why people name their very sweet, very friendly, cute little teacup Poodles Killer though.....

I think Chomper is a cute name. I believe it was the name of a baby T-Rex in a Land Before Time movie(my little brother used to watch these over and over again when he was young....I couldn't possibly forget). It does kind of bring images of him chewing on the mailman's leg or shredding things for fun though. :) But as long as he really isn't a "chomper" I suppose it doesn't matter..hehe I think Boomer is cute as well though.

i don't see anything wrong with chomper, when I think a chomper i think big footed clumsy playful dog that loves to lick and smile. i really think it is a cute name.
also chomps has gone through alot already maybe keep his name consistent for a while? ya know what I mean?
Once i had a cat(long story) but her woner called her sissy and I absolutely cannot stand the name sissy it makes my skin crawl. so i started calling her missy, then i called her missy mugshot (poor cat was terribly ugly) then i called her mellissabeth, which at the time was 2 of my 3 year old nieces favorite names, which is odd bc the little girls never hung out with each other, but they would always called their dolls mellisabeth, but it would always start off as mellissa or elizabeth then slow mesh into mellisabeth/ sorry for going off the subject. But I think if you change chompers name do it gradually, but hopefully chomper will find his forever home soon and you won't need to worry.

Alrighty! Chomper it is. I could train him to respond to a new name quite easily, but the name is sort of fitting for him. He is kinda mouthy. I am just trying to figure out why no one is inquiring about him when he is a really cute and unique-looking dog! I hoped changing his mix to aussie/beagle would help and we did have a guy e-mail last week and a family looked at him on Saturday.

I just need to start training the guy. And he gets so stressed out at adoption events it really doesn't help him. It's odd, because he's not a nervous dog at all!

Hopefully his incision will be well healed enough by tomorrow for me to let him run his energy out.
