sick, vomitting dog, advice?

My dog was looking down this morning and not wanting to eat. Since then she has vomitted several times but only stomach bile has come out, not food or substance. She doesn't seem to be in pain at all, I pushed around in her abdomine area, but she looks miserable. It seems like a food poisoning or flu-like? I'm trying to decide if I should take her to the vet. Any advice?

You should take her to your vet if you think she's got into anything poisonous....theres dozens of things that can make a dog vomit and you havent give much information. Sorry, cant give much advice without knowing more.
    How old is the dog?
Has is had all it vaccines?
    Any diarrhea?

    more info on the dog

She's about three, current with all her shots. She hasn't had any diarrhea. We dont' have anything poisonous around the house that she could have gotten into. All I can think of is that she may have eaten something while running about outside, people like to leave out food for the street cats in our neighborhood. I guess the vet is probably the best idea right now.

I agree. Especially being in so much pain too, they can get sick just from eating something they are not used to eating but there are a lot of other causes, it would be best to have her checked out.
    Good luck.

I also agree. Her stomach is obviously empty if only bile is coming up. Could be a blockage somewhere maybe? I'd definitely take a trip to the vet or at the very least call and ask your vet for advice.

Vet immediately if she's not vomiting anything or pottying... Sounds VERY much like the sounds of a blockage or bloat...not sure how big the dog is but it's possible... And she's not that old so it could VERY well be a blockage from something she ate for fun etc... Keep us updated!

    its happened to me before

My dog actually did the same thing the other morning and i called the vet in a panic... What they told me to do is to watch my dog and if she is acting like normal take all food and water away for a few hours and they slowly give them a little at a time,,,,
If he happens in the morning my Vet also told me to put a little food out when we go to bed that way she wont have an empty stomach in the morning and gobble done all of her food

    Hope that helps

    Krista re: MinPin Parvo

See the post above this one on the main board. If MinPin has Parvo than you do need to get the vet involved.

    miniature pincher with parvo

I have taken him to the vet and is on meds and pedialite. I just wanted to know if there was anything else I could do for him?

Im assuming the reason for not hospitalization is funding? Reason I mention it is that really is the best way to go with a parvo case, even in a mild case initially as you dont know how bad its going to get.
As for what else you can do for him, you dont say what meds he's on, if its oral and hes vomiting a lot the meds wont do him any good, some anti biotics can cause nausea and vomiting depending on the dog. Is it possible (if this is the case) that you can take him in to have an anti-biotic and maybe anti-emtic shot daily? If hes keeping the meds down thats great, with the Pedialyte the idea is to get as much in without him bringing it back up, did the vet give you any idea on how much to give? Can you take his temperature? normal range for a dog is anywhere between 99.5 - 102.5, he'll probably have a fever but if its getting up around 104.5 and not coming down or getting higher I would take him back into the vet, when/if it starts getting down to 98.5 and lower get him back to the vet, they can go into shock and a low temperature is definitely not good. Try not to encourage him to move around too much, dont expect him to want to get up and go outside. I know a lot of people who have done home treatment with their dogs for this but they are vigilant and often end up sitting up all night to give fluids.
    Good luck.
