Snails

Well today I noticed I have a few tiny snails, which is weird becuase I haven't added anything to this tank since late June so I guess they've been hiding somewere, I dont have any other snails so I assume it came in on my plant or a fish. Question beaing, should I use some sort of snail-killer or just pull them out when i see them?

 

im no really sure becuase if youve got wut i think u do ur in trouble you could have a snail infestation my dad had it in his aquarium when i was little and they totally messed his tank they were evrywere u can kill them fast enough good luck thoe

 

Ive heard of loaching killing/eating snails alot if you have the room :y_the_best:

 

I would only use chemicals as a last resort because they contain copper which can be pretty harsh for fish.

yep clown loaches are the answer to your problem if you have the room, they will sort the slimmy little suckers out in a couple of days.

 

i had forgotten about clown loaches and good luck getting the snails!

 

i perwsonaly like snails in an aquarium, as lond as hey dont get out of hand. i am actualy breeding them right now.

at the moment im breeding pond snails but want to breed these snails that i get from a creek near here. they look and act like burrowing snails but are smaller.
for snail eaters clown loaches are the best.

 

late responce, but go with the loach i had one and a week later when i was vaccuming there where snail shells everywhere, other then that do the lettice idea. but dont use the snail killer cause the snail killer is a very strong chemical. i used it once and it damaged my fish. I think the reason for 3 deaths was that stuff.

 

There are other loaches that don't get as big as the clown loach but still eat snails. I can't think of any of them off the top of my head, but if you do a google search, you should be able to find some.
