So proud of Boe!!! pics~

This last saturday the 28th, We went to the PetFest and Expo in Hutto, TX. it was SOO much Fun!! I took Byeboer and Faith along with me and they were sooo good. Boe definately was the 'showpiece" lol. I wish I had a dollar for every person that touched him and took his picture.I'd be rich!

He definately would have gotten the "biggest dog" award had they had one. LOL

Sunday was sooo beautiful. I decided to let my "kids" out to play together for the afternoon.
Here they all are playing in the back yard! Boe, Vader, Faith, Precious and Kabuki!

 

those are great pics, and Boe looks great! and yes, the weather was WONDERFUL! we had a "bark in the park" and they turned a local softball field into a dog park using temporary fencing. they had costume contests, trick contests, tail wagging contests...Ranger and Snickers had a blast running around with the other dogs, once Ranger conquered his fear of the loudspeaker (he barked at it for at least 20 min before I got him distracted with an empty water bottle.)
was anyone scared of Boe? There was a Great Dane at the park and some of the people wouldn't let their dogs near it, but he was the sweetest thing! He got lots of pictures taken with little toy dogs, lol.

 

No, no one was scared of him at all. Lots of people wanted to take pictures of him with their babies. LOL I cautioned them and made sure I was at his head the whole time.
There were a few idiots with thteir little yappy dogs. One stupidly let his litty lahsa jump all in boe's face, and was biting him!!!! Boe was getting really irritated, and his stupid owner was saying "Hey! My little one is kicking your big dogs A$$!!!" I told him how irresponsible he was, and they weren't supposed to be off leash in the first place! I mean, if Boe wouldn't have been as good natured as he is. One bite woulda ended that little dogs life.


But over all I'm very proud of the outcome. He behaved, strutted his stuff and took the whole place by storm! LOL

 

Oh, I hate the people who do stuff like that! Or let your dog jump on them, and sit there going "It's alright, I don't mind" when you try to explain to them that you want to discourage that behaviour. I finally got the dogs not to jump on me without invitation, but strangers are proving to be a much more difficult task.

 

Boe is a very fine looking guy! Nice pictures.

I hate those people with those spoiled, untrained little yappers. So many of those owners don't have a clue about training a dog or what it is like living with a well behaved (and happy!) dog.

I have big dogs and it always amazes me when I am at a park, little kids will come running up to the dog (no adult supervising!) and try to pet him/her. I use my "mommy" voice and tell the child that they need a parent with them if they want to pet the dog. My dogs aren't in the least bit aggressive -- but they are big animals. If there were an accident, or the kid did something to spook the dog --- you know for sure I would get sued up the wazoo and could run the risk of having a good dog taken from me - or worse.

Sometimes when I send a kid off to find their adult supervisor, they'll come back with someone. If they do, I make it very clear that it will be a short visit (a couple of pets) and I show them very specifically where the child can pet the dog -- like across his/her back only. Once I had a kid get right into one of my dogs face and pulled his whiskers and was poking his eye --- Oh man, was I hot! Thank goodness it was my old Golden, he was so patient. Any other dog probably would have started growling.

Oh, and another pet peeve ---
I don't like people that think it is good dog manners to let their dogs sniff other dogs butts! I don't see any butt sniffers at obedience trials!

 

I agree! My guys sniff eachothers butts constantly tand they live together!!!! Now If they were on leash going somewhere, no butt sniffing allowed and they know it!

But in romping and playin, they do and I don't mind. as long as they don't come try and give me kisses afterwards! LOL


All of my dogs know they are NOT to jump on people. Faith is still learning this, but everyone else knows better. Every now and then they'll get a STUPID spell and "forget" and happily jump, but once they do it, they get a look on their faces like "oopsy, I wasnt' supposed to do that!!!"

For the most part their all VERY well behaved. Took me a while to get Vader and Kabuki to get along. Now, they do. And I'm glad. There is absolutely no quarreling or fighting on my property. PERIOD. Once I see someone buck up to another, one "EEERT!" usually does the trick and they play happily after that.


With 5 giant dogs, its like having a HUGE liability sign in my front yard. All the neiboring people and farms know that my dogs stay kenneled unless Im home and outside with them. And they all respectfully give me a quick call on my cell if they want to come see them. I love that. We're all "dog" friendly out here. Every now and then i get a stranger drive up and think they can just "meet" my dogs. But their all met the same way, with Guarding barking and Protective behavior. I do have liability signs in my yard and on my kennels. And warnings. Anyone who comes to my property to meet the dogs will sign a waiver if they want to play with them. Not that my dogswould do anything, but they are BIG, like Boe, is 170lb dog. and could easily knock someone down. Most people are happy to sign ita and all know about them, so they do what they know to do to keep from intimidating the dogs or provoking any bad behaviors. Its great having "know how" neighbors!!!

Nice that they are well behaved too!
As a dog trainer, I can't tell you the number of untrained dogs I see! But, its a nice way to make a living doing something you love!
