Some questions about moving with Cats

Discussion in 'Cats - all breeds / types' started by SebastionNRooneysMom, Jul 4, 2005.

  1. Ok just a update on my boys. Boy seem to be getting over their eye colds there is barely any discharge and their just doing really well though their still going to vets soon. Anyways turned out we could'nt sign our papers for the house Thursday because the people who owned the house went out of town  . So we're definatly going to sign Tuesday and we will start moving that day last time we moved it only took us a day and a halph and we have even less stuff now so yay. Now here's some cat related questions.

Ok I have always known it is less of a risk possibly to move your cats last after everything else is in the home. Or should i just bring them whenever and just limit them to one room i know or hopefully know won't be opened while the doors are open (our cats are indoor only)? BTW I DO I have two cat carriers my moms friend gave us to keep.

What should i expect when we move into the new place. Should it just be just like when I very first got them when they were just checking everything out but not too spastic? They havent even lived here for a total of 2 weeks yet so im a assuming it won't be as tramatic as it would be for an older cat who lived in a home for most of its life and then was moved right?

I know there dumb questions but I was just wondering. Ok then thanks in advance.

been awhile since I've moved...although I've moved tons, and I hate it.
I'd take the cats first with some familar items and close them in a room that you won't be moving stuff into right away.
I'd be so afraid they would get out or forgotten in the chaos or into a box or something.
I'd either put them in the bathroom of the new house with food/litterbox and maybe a blanket that smells like the old house. Then once you and your mom are settled in let them out to explore.
I really hate moving...just the thought makes me cringe.
I had moved 12x by the time I was 20....my parents used to buy houses and when the market was good they'd sell, rent and wait to buy a new house, buy a new house and move again - hate it. I've lived here 13 years and it's the longest I've lived in a house and now my hubby wants to sell
good luck with your new house/move and getting the kitties to adjust. I don't envy you at all LOL packing sucks

  3. Ok thanks i will do that :)

Wow moving 12x before you were twenty?! i would be sick of it too. Thanks again.
