Some very sad news

Some of you may know 1 of my cats has been sick recently, that was Tango, well on Friday Courtney started looking sick too, she appeared to be just like Tango had been, fine one day and the next she looked sick and dehydrated.

So Friday we took her to the vet and as expected they gave her antibiotics and if she wasn't better she would go on a drip overnight, Saturday she wasn't any better so she stayed in Saturday night and was supposed to be home Sunday... The vet phoned Sunday morning, her bladder wasn't as full as it should have been and her tummy had swelled up, so he used a needle and drew out the fluid, it was blood, they had to open her up and find out what was wrong or she would bleed to death.

A few hours later the vet phoned back, he had her open on the table and they found a tumor, it had started to spread and thats why she was bleeding inside, he said he could close her up and wake her but she would only live for another day or 2 and she would bleed to death or he could let her go, I told him to let her go , my poor baby didn't deserve to suffer anymore, my heart is broken.

Monday we went to collect her from the vets, it was so hard, we took her home and showed her to the other cats, since they were all close to her and we didn't want them to think she just dissapeared, I'm sure they all understood, 1 by 1 Mitz, Tango and Rags came up to her and sniffed her and sat with her, all saying goodbye in their own way, Bones didn't come and see her but he sniffed her towel once she had gone and I think he knew, I'm so glad we did that, our family together one last time.

We buried her in my mums garden as its lovely there and Courtneys grand daughter Chi is also buried there.

Courtney was 12, the youngest of our 5 cats, she always played and acted like a kitten, she showed no signs of sickness at all, she was playful and loving right up to the end, all the other cats loved her and mothered her... and everything is so quiet without her, I miss her so much. :cry:

I'm so sorry for your loss. :cry: You did the right thing showing her to her family. I didn't do that with Rene when she passed and Milo was depressed for 3 days not knowing what happened to her. Monty who never ventures out snuck out for 3 days looking for her. Courtney is painfree now and will be honored to have a place at your mum's garden. She will always be close to your heart whenever you think of her. *Hugs*

 

I am so sorry. I know exactly how you are feeling right now. It's so hard to lose one of our fur animals. I also think it was good of you to show her to the other cats. I really believe it gives them closure too. I'm glad you were able to let her rest in peace in your Mom's pretty garden. Hang in there. I know what a sad time this must be for you right now. :cry:

 

I'm so sorry about the loss of you kitty, Courtney. She is at peace now and I believe we will see our beloved pets again when we pass on. My heart goes out to you. Take care.
