Just thought I would run this by you all also. I posted this on the dog forum.......I pretty much decided I am going to get this for Nicky (the Greyhound)....I thought the picture was cute and wanted to share....The cats "own" my bed. They have been very tolerant of Nicky taking over some of their space....Look at Cubby's expression in that picture....there are many captions that come to mind...lololol

We have a 14 year old greyhound who has arthritis. She has taken to curling up on my bed where I have an electric blanket...

The cats would like me to break her of this habit...

We're thinking the heat feels good on her old bones. She has her own dog bed but with it getting colder she's been spending more time on my bed.

    Any thoughts on this product?

Lol's! What a beautiful pic. At least they are sharing. I wonder what my kitties would do if I purchased a heated bed too. Could be a blood bath. Rene and Pumpkin would fight over it for sure. I do remember in x-ray school that we should avoid long term use of electric blankets. Something about bad background radiation or electrical fields that can reverse our natural electrical impulses?

Great site. That's a lot of info to digest! But how many of us will actually follow all the recommendations even though they are true? My x-ray teacher used to say stay 10 feet away from all tv's and 6 feet from microwave ovens. Don't leave your alarm clock next to your head and no electric blankets and avoid cell phones. Avoid power lines at all costs. How practical is this? If my cats get older, I'd definitely consider getting them an electrical bed. I just purchased a survival blanket (reflects body heat) for $1.50 plus $1.83 shipping on ebay. I'm going to see if I can cut it up and place them in different cat beds around the house. I hope my meowmies like them!

    Here's an interesting read:

My goodness! The reason I got the electric blanket was because I got rid of my water bed!

Now I'm looking at that site....

    Electric Clocks

Electric clocks have a very high magnetic field, as much as 5 to 10 mG up to three feet away. If you are using a bedside clock, you are probably sleeping in an EMF equivalent to that of a powerline Studies have linked high rates of brain tumors with chronic exposure to magnetic fields, so it is wise to place all clocks and other electrical devices (such as telephones and answering devices) at least 6 feet from your bed.

    Telephones and Answering Machines

Telephones can emit surprisingly strong EMFs, especially from the handset. This is a problem because we hold the telephone so close to our head. Place the Gauss meter right against the ear piece and the mouth piece before buying a phone.

Some brands emit no measurable fields and others emit strong fields that travel several inches....right into your brain. Answering machines, particular those with adapter plugs (mini-transformers), give off high levels of EMFs.

    AND THIS ONE~~~~
    Additional Radiation Info:
Eyeglass frames should ideally be made from plastic with no wires in them, otherwise they can serve as an antenna to focus the radio and cellular phone waves directly into your brain.

    Whaaaaaat?!?

Now the good news here is this site's recommeded reading refers to books written 14/15 years ago. Let's hope things have changed....
