still working on the left-behind cat

have one possible interested party but haven't heard from her.

I did call the shelter the other day and asked them if I could bring the cat down and have it (I say it cause I haven't looked to see what it is) labeled a stray but since they are so overwhelmed with kittens right now they want the owner to bring it in and pay the intake fee. I contacted the owner and haven't heard from the twit - which basically says it all.

So today I got an email from the shelter volunteer director and she asked if my husband would help them replace the flooring in the admin. offices (my husband is a mason http://www.prpmasonry.com ) so I said I'd ask but would they consider trading his services for taking in a cat :y_the_best: also I'm going to be spending 8/15 cashiering for a fundraising event they are having so you'd think that would be worth something too.

Haven't heard from them yet - but hopefully they'll be willing to take the cat in for my husband's help replacing the floor....they got a quote of $1,000 from a contractor. I think him helping them save that kinda money would be worth giving up the $40 intake fee.

Mary, you and your hubby are awesome. It's too bad you guys don't live in the Buffalo area. You can get a lot of referrals here for masonry etc. I'm sure you're very busy there too.

update...got an email from the shelter.

They advised me to call the police and tell them about the situation...I did.

Here's what they would do -

they would go get the cat and deal with it the way they deal with all cats - and that is PTS  they don't have provisions for dealing with cats, only dogs.

Or they could (now this is a joke) deputize me =D> :m14: me for the day and I could call this person and tell her she has 24 hours to get the cat out of there. That won't work (well for many reasons...I have a feeling I'd abuse my newfound power...and I want to be able to carry a gun and wear a badge) cause I know she'd open the door and say "shoo".

I'm determined to save this cat

I emailed the shelter and they are furious cause the town contracts with them to take stray dogs/cats to the shelter and instead the town is probabably just shooting the cats.

But...I might have a home. I'll let youknow tonight after I make a call.

One of the realtors found the cat in a cupboard this morning...cat had been put in there with a piece of exercise equipment up against the cupboard door - we WILL get that cat out of this situation. I'm not getting the owner involved cause I fear she'll just dump the cat somewhere...instead I plan on letting her think the cat go out and she can spend the rest of her crappy life wondering what happened.

OMG I just read that, it sounds like something that you would see on Animal Precinct. What a horrible person to jsut leave behind her bbay like that. People really need to be held responsible for thier choices and she just treated her cat like a piece of furniture!!!!!! I had to go a kiss and hug Stewart because the thought of deserting him and him missing me and wanting to be with me breaks my heart!

i also think it is sooo generous to offer your services...i would cop a HUGE resentment if they would not take in a cat in return. :m3: i mean HUGE....
