tank size question

    ok i have to baby ranchu...and im getting a 35 gallons...
    a normal grown ranchu is about 5 inches...how many inches of fish can i have
    are they neon compatible
    do i count the neon in the inches of fishes......
    can i have gold fish with sand aquarium
    live plant is good for the isnt it?

    Goldfish don't fall under the 1" rule. A 5" goldfish would need about 20 gallons.

    And no, neons and goldfish aren't compatible. They require different tempratures and neons are small enough that a goldfish might eat them.

    Sand is fine with goldfish and plants are good for water quality (eat up nitrAtes), but there's a chance the goldfish might eat live plants.

    cool,but for a 35 gal?...i allready have 2 ranchu,and i had neon has a gift,i put them in the tank with my oscar and my piranha,and 3 of the got eat in like a minute..so i had to put them somewhere so i dump them in my gold fish tank....for now it seem all right,but the goldfishes are reall small,iM afraid that when they grow up they will get eaten up

    It very well may get eaten. Plus neons are schooling so a single neon by itself isn't going to be very happy. If you could get a 5 gallon, you could get 4 or 5 more and keep them there. Otherwise you'd probably be better off taking it to the LFS.

    You could try them, but when the goldfish get bigger keep an eye on the water quality (2 6" goldfish and 5 neons in a 35 will be a bit overstocked) and don't be surprised if the neons get eaten.
