taz we made it through christmas

hi

he is getting bad now

all he does is sit on the couch drink water & the juice from the moist food

I have not seen him use the litter box in 2 days he is not going anywhere else either he is not going at all
is this normal?

on christmas moring he played a little bit with a cat nip sack the he got & than he has been on the couch ever sence

I am sorry to have such sad news but I do not know where else to go

the vets are not open until tuesday & I don't think he will make it until than

last night we had a scare I thought he had passed on right on the couch he was laying down & his head was in a funny way & it looked like he was not breathing

he was just in a deep sleep

the lack of going to the bathroom has me worried is this normal

what are the last day like?
what should I be looking for

any thing I can do to make him comphy in his last days?

Kathy, I'm so sorry Taz is doing poorly. At this point please give him anything he wants to eat if he'll let you. Do you know how to give him subcutaneous fluids? He may need iv fluids and subcutaneous fluids.

I really don't have much experience with the last days as my first kitty stopped eating and only drank water due to end stage renal failure. We took him to his vet and had him PTS as recommended. My regret is not being able to hold him in my arms and say I love you and it's ok to let go. I wished I had gotten even a day or 2 to hold him all day and night and to cherish him for one last time.

Do you have a heated bed or blanket? He may need extra covers as he'll lose a lot of heat and won't be able to retain it. Hugs and you are Taz are in my thoughts and prayers.

 

I am so sorry Taz is going downhill... I don't have any advice to share, but I want you to know you are in my thoughts. Hugs.

 

Poor Taz. Try to give him some 'tasty' food. Maybe some canned tuna, fancy feast. I wish him all the best. Let us know how things are going.

to day @ 9:45 taz will be PTS
I can no longer watch him suffer

he can not jump on to the couch & he is having a hard time walking

the vet said he sounded like he is in total kidney failure
