Duke and Freckles live in adjacent crates when we are not home. As soon as I open the door to let them out, like a well rehearsed dance routine, they both immediately proceed to the other crate to retreive the other chew bone or Kong. It's like the one they have is not as good as the one next door. Only then will they go outside carrying whatever "prize" they looted from the other crate.
I guess that old adage also applies to dogs. :D

So very very true! My husky, in my sig below, insists on eating all of the food out of my poor little chi's dish in one giant gulp, and he always steals a piece of her food and runs to his bed to eat it (because he's so little one piece of kibble is like a big treat to him) I've never quite figured out why they insist on eating each others food when they both have plenty of the same exact thing, but your logic seems correct!

Smokey and CHar used to do the same thing. I guess She always though he got the better peice of meat, or visa versa....She'd run off with hers, lay it down, and he'd do the same, then they'd run past each other to get the others dinner!!!
    Same with bones.

When my husband and I go out for pizza and beer
I always think my husband's piece of pizza is better looking than mine and when he is not looking, I switch it LOL. Then, I drink my beer and when he is not looking again, I switch the beers LOL

When ever we go out to eat, and thats not often, I always steal some of his!! He'll tell me "Damnit!! You have the same thing I have!!!" and I'll reply "Yeah, but yours is ALWAYS better than mine!!" So he'll switch with me, then I want mine back.....LOL 8)
