The ignorance of some people

Got home from work tonight and my wife told me a couple from our church dropped our kids off (they ride the bus to church on Wed nights). She told me the man said it was a mistake to get a pitbull and we should rethink our decision. I am glad I wasn't here because I would have hated to get in a pissing match with someone from our church. I would be willing to bet the man has NEVER owned a pitbull and is just going off what he has heard and read. SAD.

 

No offense to you, your beliefs or your church but I am willing to bet this is the same kind of person that goes around preaching to others about his way of life and how everyone else is so wrong about theirs.

I have a relative like this and it just drives me crazy!!! And then he has the nerve to ask if he can borrow my pit bull to chase and eat unwanted cats on his property after he go's on and on about how god didn't want that animal to exist and how it would eat me and my family. pfft.....

 

When I first moved from UK to California I got a job at an animal hospital, I really was worried about the idea of having to work with any Pits, I had read up on them and how their personality was 'supposed' to be but in the 80's in UK they were a big problem. It took about the first 3 Pits I worked with to realize that it wasnt the dogs that were the problem but the owners, sure they can do a lot more damage than your average dog if they do attack but I have to admit that in over 15 years and working with probably thousands of Pits, I have only seen one that was extremely aggressive with people, theres been a few that have had to be muzzled for receiving treatment but thats no different than any other dog, they are also one of my favourite breed to work with in obedience training, the are so tuned into your body language almost immediatley and their drive to 'please you' is up there with German Shepherds and Dobermanns.
I wouldnt even waste time thinking about what the guy said, he obviously has no idea what he's talking about.

 

Camfather, I was thinking the EXACT same thing. Some people are soooooo HYPOCRITICAL!

 

I can relate owning two pits and my family, which they all of huge mouthes, makes such a huge issue about. They always say that they will pray for me that my babies do not harm me or my husband. I can go off when it comes to this subject, which I do regularly. My Honey was abused my someone else and my husband more less told the guy he wasn't taking her back with him. We weren't sure how she would act so we quarantined sp? her for a week to make sure she wouldn't be agressive. As with any breed, if tied up and left to basically fend for themselves, they can be a little upset. Once we found out she is totally not aggresive and the most loving animal she is now a major part of our family, as well as our neighbors. Though she is an escape artist, she is by far the sweetest thing, if you meet her she can't run up fast enouch to slide on her back belly up for you to pet her belly. She has to give me kisses all of the time. Anyway, I will hush now. I just have a very strong opinion when it comes to pits and ingnorant people.
