I was wathcing animal cops NY last night and they profiled a dalmation that had nothing left of him, just bones, normally it would be the wosrt case of animal cruelty. and you could see in its eyes saying please let me go. well neighbors called they came to investigate, the dog is dying of kidney failure and wont eat say the owners are letting it starve to death and die at home. And that was okay with the animal cops. :x :x That is just wrong to let the dog suffer that way. I just went thru this with Midas. He stopped eating and was losing weight, I was not going to let him starve and have a misaerable death. I knew it was time, the AC should have said its time for teh dog to be put down. arrgh

True. It might not have been alright to them. But legally if they have veterinary papers stating the dog has been treated to its extent. There is nothing the AC can do.

I remember seeing that one some time ago - and although I lean toward the way you feel think of how people are left in that same state...just wasting away waiting to die and they can't be released humanely.
I think our first instinct is "oh that poor animal is suffering so", but do we really know. He was home, with his beloved person.
Yeah I wouldn't let it go that long either and I would think educating the owner would be a right thing to do.

I agree. They could have given him "options" and helped educate them. But your right. How do we know that the dog wasn't happy? I mean, he was with his owners and they did love him. Perhaps they were doing everything in their power to make him feel comfortable. But I know I couldn't do it.
