I have a question that is not something you hear everyday lol... Don't think I am a pervert for asking this but...
How many nipples is a dog supposed to have?
I though 8 but then maybe 10... I am not sure...

 Dont worry, its a legitimate question, your not pervy in any way.

Generally they have 5 pairs....so 10 but sometimes theyll be missing one or two or have an extra couple.
They should have one per puppy per litter, puppies usually will always go to the same nipple as well, most litters are less than 10 so in most cases there are enough....Ive seen litters of 13 puppies though and theyve all been nursing at the same time so obviously some dogs have 13 (or 14). Ive had a couple of dogs, my Chi mix and my Rott that only had 8 and I think my whippet had 9.

my dog has 12, and she is an Aussie so it doesn't seem like she can have 12 puppies but she has 10 normal sized ones and the last pair (closest to her butt) she has another pair but they are only like 1cm from the last pair... weird, i guess its like a person having a 3rd nipple... :)

My german shepherds have 16, 12, 10 teats, My lab x rottie has 12 teats so it all depends on the dog.

Also with my girls all there teats filled and were in use when they were nursing which usually some never come into action in most dogs...

Just thought i would share lol

Annie has 11? She also has the double nipples on her last pair. We just call her our mutant dog.

The vet's shaved off one of Zoey's when she was spayed. Good thing she didn't need them, huh?

ok the 24 scared me, I had to pick my jaw up off the ground when I saw just kidding... :D I was just wondering about the teat thing cuz I could understand if they have 12 and they are all alligned pairs and evenly spaced but my dogs 11th and 12th are not spaced from the last pair (closest to her buttocks), they are only like a cm apart or so, not a few inches like the rest... Thanks for sharing everyone! Dog teats are a good conversation starter... weird :D lol
