Check out this list posted by Dogfriendly.com rating the top ten dog friendly cities:

and the top ten dog friendly resorts:

Very interesting comments. I have been to Yellowstone, without the boys, but I seem to recall that most trails did not allow dogs. As for the cities, I am most familiar with San Antonio. The Riverwalk is a grat place but it's often very very crowded with somewhat narrow walks so your dog should be use to crowds before you try that stroll.

Anyone here have any experience visiting either the cities and/or resorts mentioned?

I went to San Francisco earlier this year and although I didn't bring the dogs, I saw lots of people out and about with their dogs! There were a lot of parks. And signs on the buses and cable cars that said dogs could ride (there were some rules and restrictions).

munich is really dog friendly, you can take your dog almost everywhere with you.
last week I went to a state park who claimed they were dog friendly. and they were to an extent. You could bring your dog, (we stayed in a cabin) if you stayed in a tent your dog had to be in a crate (i think in this heat that is crazy!!) they were only allowed on certain trails and not near the water (I guess a health code) but on our last day there (we got there 9pm Fri night and had to check out by Sun at 10am) we asked if Luther could stay in our cabin while we went swimming and they would not allow that, my hubby even offered to pay an extra night (which there were no reservations for that night for our cabin) so we just had to drive home.
We had assumed luther could come with us on a boat or something on the water but nope, only on the certain trails, but I can't hike that far since I have messed up my knee.
    it was still fun though

I don't think dogs are allowed in the cabins in state parks around here. They are allowed in tents. They can never be left unattended. I'd crate my dogs in a tent anyway - otherwise Nala would have the whole tent eaten in an hour and we'd wake up under the stars.

Same in the north, Im in Herford (somewhere between Osnabruck and Hannover) dogs can go in the stores, bars, some cafes and restaurants, I love it....now I just wish people would clean up their dogs you know what or at least get them to go in the gutter or on the grassed areas.
