Trying out the new PediPaw's

well i bought one of the pedipaws tools for dog nails. I'm acclimating Precious to it first and I want to see how it works

I know cliping them is such a pain and i always nick the quick.

Has anyone else used it? What did you think?

 

Haven't used it, but if it works as good as a dremel then I'd say its ok. I'm not sure if it does though. People seem to like it.

 

Mine never liked the dremel i think because they are so noisy. The pedipaw is pretty quiet and has a guard on it. So you can't trim to short.

Gonna try it on Precious this evening see how she likes it

 

I would be very interested in the outcome

 

My husband and I were curious, how well this worked as well, seeing as though im the one that bathes, cleans her ears, and cuts her nails, i would like to see how this works compared to just cutting them down.

 

Cant wait to hear how this works.... Buster hates to have his nails done it takes forever for me to get them trimmed with him squrming....

 

Well i've found that it takes a long time.
Not only warming the dogs up to it where they are comfortable, but if they have points on their nails... its forever painstakingly long. Also you can't put any force on the emry board at all...or it stops, which is a good safety feature for puppies, but on adult dogs without any force its not going to grind down on the nails at all... just run over the top.

I have found that by trimming the nails first, it works ok for smoothing out any rough edges. but other than that, I htink i wasted my money to be honest.

Perhaps it would work better on smaller breeds but for medium size and up, I think its a waste of time....

 

that's what I was afraid of with that deal. they have the right idea just need to make it for the big guys/gals. Sure would save me!! I just did Buster's nails and had to bribe him with treats.....And he still made a fuss I never can get as much as I would like to get off.

 

Yeah they have the right idea. but the guard for this tool, has a small opening and i had to remove it to even do my dogs Toenails.

I guess if you used it daily and just let it sit on the toenail... might do something, but noo. I cleaned it up and sanitized it and i'm gonna take it back. Says money back guarantee... so we'll see if they own up to it...

 

thanks for the info - I have one ordered. I'll refuse the package when it comes in. I always find sticking to the tried and true is best but I was hoping.

 

Well they wouldn't take it back. Not at the store anyway and said i had to contact the manufacturer. I think i'm gonna send it to Rayna and let her try it on her dogs. She's got bordercollies and I think it would work great on her dogs.

However, on mine... no. Its just not going to work on big toenails. One thing i will say good about it. It was a good socializing tool. It does humm and its odd... and each dog leanred not to be afraid of it. So It was a good tool training the dogs to not focus on the tool, but to focus on doing what they are told and tolorating something uncommon to them.
