Tubby's heat cycle ..odd...

Ok. Tubby, the Chiuhaha, is now 8 months old and has come into her first heat. We'd like to wait until she's a bit older to spay. However her heat has lasted longer than usual.
Vets say its ok.. nothings wrong, however, its going on over two 1/2 weeks now....

Mike, DeLaUK, anythoughts???

 

Its about 3 weeks altogether but can vary with each dog, some are a little less....heres a pretty good guide for each stage of the heat cycle though....

Hi Sam i would not worry as the normal heat cycle is 18-21 days some go 27days.
The first heat cycle is usually longer but aslong as there is no dark foul smelling discharge she is fine.

Mitzys first heat cycle lasted 26days and i worried as my other girls had only gone 18days but when she had her second cycle she went only 21days, So each dog is different same as some Dams will concieve from 3days after the cycle starts.

So aslong as she is well, eating and drinking and generally herself then i would not worry she may well be coming to the end of the cycle.

My girls usually only lasted the 18 days... I figured with the smaller breed she wouldn't have lasted as long.. its now day 21, she's still in heat, but you can tell she's going out.

Just freeked out a bit. The little stinker worries us! We love her to death....
