Okay this is kinda gross..but does anyone have issues w/ um long hair cats and poopy butt issues...Caesar is my long hair white..and he constantly has litter and other things stuck to his fur..i have been just trying to trim w/ scissors..and giving lots of baths..but those are becoming hard bc he hates baths...any suggestions??

my mother's cat has the same problem - clingons...he gets a lion cut in the summer (shaved all but his head and tail...looks hilarious). But other than then my mother keeps him clean by clipping and brushing. I think that's about all you can do.

the only time pepe gets 'clingons' [mary that is hilarious!] is when he has diarrhea. diarrhea and long haired cats just dont mix, especially with me  pepes poos are quite firm so they drop to the ground instantly and doesnt stick. perhaps you could try different foods to see if it produces a less sticky poo? if they were to still stick id take him to the vets and get his backside cut very short. you can hardly see fluffy cats butts when they are clipped so it wont look silly. im not sure if he would require anaesthesia, a butt clip is pretty easy compared to other body parts.

My vet gave Tiddy a "sanitary clip" once before because he was having that problem after that I used to just clip him myself with the scissors. I don't anymore though because he no longer seems to have a problem.

My chubby long haired Socks definitely has 'clingon' problems (too funny Mary).

She has even had a couple of urinary tract infections because of it. The Vet has shaved her under her tail area to help keep her clean and now I try to do it about once a month so she doesn't have another infection and also to just keep her clean. My husband holds her down while I do the shaving. Socks is surprisingly very good during all of this. She looks a litter bare from the back but it works.

I bought an electric shaver at the pet store. It works really well and doesn't hurt her. I also comb her every day and try to comb around the tail area to help keep her groomed.

    Hope this helps. :)

my puppy has the same prob. so we get one person to make her sit still and distract her while the other chops.

Luther (my dog) gets this sometimes after diarahea or soemtimes he gets mulch in the hair back there, but i used to always get the sanitary clip done. Dale (my cat) doesn't really have long hair so it isn't a problem. I have always heard them called dingleberries?

Is he a good sleeper? Maybe you can trim when he's in deep sleep?
