Just been to the vet. Rene is 12 lbs and super healthy! Pumpkin is 13 lbs and Monty is 14lbs and he got dubbed "a little round." Unfortunately the latter 2 are going back on Mon. for dental cleanings and Pumpkin needs 2 upper teeth extracted with polyp removals by laser. Poor kids. :m13: Incidentally they all had their annual Rabies shots- NY state law. I didn't want the 3 year one because of the higher incidence of allergic reactions. Rene had waxy ears which the vet recommended using fingers and a dry tissue to clean. She also recommended all of them have regular nail clippings because when they turn 8, the nails can dig in their soft pads and cause injuries. Monty had peely skin on 1 paw and she said make sure he doesn't get ulcers- could be a sign of autoimmune disease. :? At least all the kitties were docile during the visit. When they came home, they acted like nothing happened. LOL's! Wish me and Monty + Pumkin lots of luck on Monday! :qm1:

Thank you guys. EternalFlame. It was quite easy hauling them in the carriers. They were all napping or rather dozing on the bed. So I brought over 2 carriers. Whisked them in real quick before they knew what hit them. Monty and Rene shared cause Pumpkin is a "grouch." Then they wailed in the car on the way to the vet.  I'll have to think of something else to do to distract them on Mon. They are also going to starve Sun. night- no food after 9 PM. Oh well. :(

BTW, I had asked my vet what is the best food to feed our kitties. Her reply was whatever your cat will tolerate. Premium foods are great but some cats won't tolerate them. She has a cat that pukes when any fish is ingested and another that doesn't take to beef and will only accept Friskies canned foods. I think I will continue to try different brands with my furkids and see what they like best.

Best of luck on Monday! I remember when Milo and Cubby had their teeth cleaned....Ohhhh what a difference in their breath!!!!

Do you clip their nails now? I find myself clipping about once a week or when one of them climbs up my leg and I realize it's time  All the cats except for Wrigley allow me to clip no problem. I tried sooo many time with Wrigley...but as she is named...she Wriggles right out of my grasp. I tried everything from waiting until she is sleeping to holding her down with pillow.....I gave up and never tried again. I will keep an eye on them as she gets older, she's only 4 now. I've never heard of that nail digging into the soft pads after the age of 8.

Hee hee- Wriggly! :m10: I was thinking you named her after the chewing gum. LOL's. The vet cut their nails. Now I'm going to have to. Time to go buy a nail clipper since I've displaced the one I had years ago. I'll let you know how it goes.

Hi Vene. All the best on Monday. :y_the_best:

This can also be caused from our cats walking onto wet floors that have been cleaned with certain household products. However, generally all four paw pads would be affected. Unless of course only one or more paws got the solution on them.

Thanks Chessmind, I never noticed my kitties having problems with the cleaner. That's an interesting observation. I'll have to check all their paw paws the next time I wash the floors. Hubby says the vet is "too autoimmune happy."

hi vene!!!!! yeah!!!! for all the good kitties! :0018:

i try and clip the mm's claws every two weeks. mikey has not allowed me to do it until this week. he squirmed and squirmed....acted like he wanted to nip at me a couple of times...but never did...and tolerated it much better than the other times....

once he saw that it wasnt gonna hurt him...

max is great. otis used to be wonderful. he would just sit there. i think he liked it. then i would rub his feet. he would stretch his little paw pads out all the way so i could get between his toes.

    i loved that cat... :kiss_heart:

good luck to the kitties on monday. they will be fine...

Thanks everyone for the well wishes.
Lynn, my cats were not good, they were scared, quivering and shivering except for Rene. LOL's. Hubby dubbed them "wimps- everyone else has feisty, characteristic cats! :p ) Thanks for the tip. I will try to cut their nails every 2 weeks. It'll be very interesting with 4 cats to deal with.

Good luck with the cleanings! You must remember that I was a nervous wreck when Moe had it done in August. But she made it through like a champ. I have started brushing them every few days since then. She doesn't like it, but it will hopefully be worth it.

I'll be thinking of your guys on Monday.
