First off thank you all for your advice with the Slicker problem this being the main reason I joined this site in the first place. And please don't veiw us as bad pet owners if it was up to me this would'nt have happened. But my husband and i have a partnership with the dogs and I know I do who doesent work has to go.

We sold Slicker to a neighbor who owns the lab who comes over to play all the time. I still see him almost everyday if not from a visit from him and the lab but at least i can see their back yard from the high hills on the back pasture. Sometimes he stands at the fence watching for a few minutes like he would love to come out and work. But his buddy gets his attention and he goes off into puppy mode. He's been there for a week now and our neighbor says he's doing great with living in such a smaller home and is good company. In a sense im happy for him know he's constantly playing something he lives to do. He has no responsibilities and is just a happy dog. In anouther sense im sad i miss his soft coat and long beautiful gate and wild bark. My husband even cried after we dropped Slicker off the first day and said he would miss the mutt lol. The training pups are coming this weekend and im hoping it will help me out with my grief. And I know my husband is already figuring costs to buy a new cattle dog to help Ember and Ginger.

I am so glad you found a good home for slicker, and as you say it sounds like its going out work out better for him, and what more could you ask for, having a neighbor take him, and he has his playmate too :D

That'd be hard but it's probably best because he'll not get lost in the shuffle as a non-working dog would in a working home...

What breed you getting for your new cattle dog? Just curious what you feel would work well with the Corsos...

I'm sorry you had to sell Slicker but at least you still get to see him and know how happy he is. Good luck with your new trainer pups, i'm sure they'll help take your mind off Slicker!
