We Survived Hurricane Ike OK

Now going on four days without power but I consider myself lucky that my house was not damaged. I do have a generator that I run occasionally to keep my refigerator cold and watch TV.
Actually the storm did not really bother Duke and Freckles. We spent Saturday night in the hallway and they slept better than I did. Every time one of the huge gust would hit you could hear loud thumps on the roof caused by falling tree debris. I would periodically make the rounds to make sure my roof was not leaking but it held up OK.
Not so my neighbor. They had a falling tree demolish one end of their house but they were not injured.
The boys are still very confused however, especially Duke. He does not like his routine disturbed. This morning I found him sitting in Liz's closet, something he has never done before.
On the good news side we are having very nice cool dry weather. Without airconditioning the heat and humidity would be unbearable but this cool spell has made it OK.
Houston is recovering nicely but all of the coastal cities to the south are a mess and will be for weeks.
Here is the link to a short video clip I shot about 7:00 Saturday morning. The eye wall of the hurricane passed my house about fifteen miles to the east around 3:00am so this video shows the backside of the storm four hours after the really bad winds and rain hit us. Look at the clip and imagine what it was like earlier. I believe the winds topped 110 mph when the eye passed.

YAY!!!! was wondering about you.

We got a little damage, nothing major tho. One window came loose from its metal frame. Other than that, just picking up trash and limbs and stuff.

Dogs handled it all very well. I was sooo proud!!!
