Great info Mary! I tried some of those litter pearls when it first came out and Copper was very little. He was so pitiful...just sat beside the box and meowed. I took that crap right back. Now he'll just spray the tub, door jam, dryer, oven, refrig, etc--if his box is not to his satisfaction. :x

i did have questions though on the litterbox article. i understand the thinking behind fragrance. but...my vet told me that crystals were better than clay...for irritable bowel issues, no dust, no allergies like with pine and corn litters. so...ive been mixing crystals with precious kitty litter. i love the precious kitty stuff. but, i think the crystals help. i am always concerned about max ingesting the clumping litter, because he has either diarrhea or very soft stools, which he steps in from time to time. when its liquid, it just flows between his legs, and gets on his feet, then the clumping can stick to that. his stools have been a little better, but they are still soft.

oh...the dilemma of kitty litter...so ongoing for me....

    Great article :D

But about the choise of food. Is it a health risk to feed only dry food?? Because that's what we do, and I don't want Kyrre to suffer from anything we do....

there are many debates regarding a dry-only diet versus adding wet food - my take....cats don't live by crunchies alone in the wild so why would they as domesicated pets.
Wet food does supply their little bodies with necessary moisture especially for cats who don't take in enough water.
The arguement for dry only food being beneficial to teeth is also bunk. The foster cat I had, Cleo, who had no upper teeth had had a dry only diet until I got her into foster care.
My cats have great teeth and they get both. My current fosters had nasty teeth (all cleaned now) and their diet was also primarily dry food.
Some cats just won't eat wet food...I have always offered my cats both - none are fat, they are all healthy and no dental issues (which can be a problem for Siamese cats).

i think different people have different experiences with this. otis...who ate only dry food for about sixteen years, had great teeth, and only had his teeth cleaned once...when he was about sixteen or seventeen. hardly any plaque, but the vet wanted to do it because of preserving his health as he got older, and sometimes if they have too much plaque, it can break off and get bacteria in their systems.

but max...cant eat wet without getting diarrhea. my other two can...but then it makes it hard separating them when they eat...i prefer them to all eat the same thing. although if max could eat wet, id probably be giving them mostly wet with a little dry.
