This must be moving season... Me and my boyfriend are buying a house as soon as we get the paperwork on the loan done
It's actually the house where my boyfriend has lived all his life until we moved together two years ago. His father is getting old and has moved to a home for the aged.
I'm so exited! There's alot that needs to be done because the house is from 1960, but it doesn't matter. We'll have tons of space! And it'll be so much better then renting; we can do whatever we like with it, and it won't feel like we're throwing the rent out of the window every month.

We're hoping we can start working as soon as possible. We'll have to dig up around the whole house to drainage (?). Many of the walls have to get new wallboards, and we're thinking of building a new bathroom in one of the four bedrooms... The kitchen interiour also needs to be changed... Hopefully we can move in during August :D

I wonder how Kyrre will take it though... How long do you suggest I should keep him inside on this new place? It's not long from where we live now, so I worry he will try to find his way back if I let him out too early...

Cassie: How are things going in your new home? Has Booger settled down?

I can't answer your question about letting Kyrre outside again, but congrats on the house!! I know when we bought our current house, it took Lita who was 12 at the time almost six months to come out of the basement (their litter boxes are there) on her own. My husband had brought her up and taken her into the living room and she jumped on the loveseat and sat there for a bit. When I went to pick her up, she had been so scared that she had peed on the loveseat. We then let her come up at her own pace.

Can't wait to see pics of your new house!

Oh how wonderful for you!!! Congrats! Pictures! Pictures! I hope everything goes smoothly for you!

If it were me, I'd keep her in for at least a week. That way, she'll get used to the new place and as you unpack, she'll recognise all the familiar furnature and toys and grow to 'know' that this is her new home. It took Booger about two days to settle in before she started begging to go out. I still haven't let her out yet though.

Booger was totally stressed out by the move. I wish I had thought to take her to the vet for some sedation before everyone piled over the house to help with the move. She's not used to strangers and I tried locking her into one room during the move but she can't stand being locked in a room and kept crying and crying. But she's fine now and enjoying all the new space including a staircase to run up and down. It was really funny the night when we brought our grandfather clock over. It began chiming and Booger immediately started running around the house looking for it. It was obvious that she recognised the chime :) It was really cute.

We're completely out of the old place and I'm up to my neck in boxes. But it's taking shape now. I'll post pics when I get unpacked. I really love this place (well, except for the spirit upstairs...there's quite a story behind that one but I don't want to steal your wonderful news thread).

Oh, please do. I love stories

I'm going to take pictures before, during and after the renovation. I'll be sure to post them here as well :) Can't wait to see your pics!

When is your closing date? I'm so excited for you two! I can't wait to see your pics! Although I always admired the knotty pine you have in your current home, it's beautiful. Do you have a lot of stuff to move? We sure did. You just don't really know how much crap you own till you have to pack it all up and move hehehe

I'll start a new thread about our attic spirit. I really don't want to derail yours.

Congrats and hugs to Kyrre!!!!!!!

    How exciting. Congratulations.

One move we made many years ago was a couple of miles from our old house and our kitty at that time went back to the old house twice after keeping in our new house for about a month. My guess is to keep Kyrre in your new house as long as you can.

    Best of luck! :)

That's what I've been thinking too, but it will be HARD! We've got lovely weather here now, and Kyrre has only been inside to eat and wach the rabbit a little the past few days...

I'm guessing we'll pay rent where we live now out August. I'm hoping we can move a little before that time, but it's so much that needs to be done so I don't know... (Btw, is closing date the day you move??)

Closing date is the day that the seller, loan company and buyers sign the final papers making the property transfer legal and finished. And in our case, it was the day we began moving in LOL

Looks like I was a little too quick announcing the big news... My father is a carpenter and he took a good look at the house today. Turns out the foundation wall is in very poor condition, and with all the other stuff that needs to be done it might be too much and too expencive for us to handle... :? We're still going to buy a house, but we need to use some time to look for other alternatives and do some thinking. It's sad because I was so looking forward to move pretty soon, but in the long run it'll be worth it. It's also a relief if we don't have to think about renovating if we buy another house :)

Well well, I'll keep you updated

OH, I'm so sorry Bente  I personally know how dissappointing that can be after being so excited at the prospect.
