I cant believe I almost missed this. it was on a small tag line on the news. I think its being overshadowed by teh Olympics is why I didint seeit being advertised. I cant wait

I almost missed it too because of the Olympics. I don't ever remember the two events overlapping like this.

I was surprised they gave the rottie the win in the working group. The mastiff really looked great. It was probably politics.

That is the main reason I have stayed away from AKC conformation.

The pug looked great - he might be the winner.

I always like to watch the previews of which dog advances, I am bummed I missed that part.

So what kind of work does a rottie do> I didnt know they were part of the working group

OK I'm biased  but tonight the "real" dogs show, Sports, Hounds, and Herders.
I'm happy to see the Pug beat out the Peke last night. That Peke looked like some alien life form wriggling across the floor.
Tonight it's Who Let The Dogs Out.
Hopefully sometime in my lifetime a Lab will win the Sporting group but I'm not holding my breath. I think the Lab Association should create two different standards, one for show confirmation and another for field confirmation and both shoul be represented. To me there is a very distinct difference.
Here's a photo of the Lab you will see tonight Ch Aquarius Centercourt Delight

oh, looks just like my Jake. I dont know why they creat 2 sepereate standards, my mom was just saying how their neighbor has a lab but looks nothing like Jake, I said its because he is the hunting version and Jake is the show.

take a look at USA todays website, and go their day in pictures on the dog show. theire is this pic that is just priceless of a as handler consoling a mastiff after it lost and the look on that mastiffs face.

Remember that spectacular best in show last year, that German Short Hair Pointer.
I can still remember when he struck that last pose and held it as the applause grew and grew until everyone was on their feet almost screaming. That dog didn't blink an eye.
Hope we have as good a show tonight.

Bummer - I was disappointed with tonights winner - I think it was a political win.
The dalmation and golden were my picks.

I agree. I thought the Dalmation was really on and showed exceptionally well. Did anyone notice there were at least two dogs in the various groups who made it to the group by being the only one of it's breed in the show?
Maybe I can sneak Freckles in next year and tell everyone he's an Australian Border Spaniel.

I agree I thought the dalmation should have won. Rufus did win top dog in the Eukanuba show a few months back. I also thought the golden was beautiful but surprised it made it that far, you never see goldens or labs make it to the top round.

Have you notice over the past few years, the change of what dogs make it in teh top round. It always used to be the small dogs, ie poodle, bichon, cokcer spnial etc. Almost like they picked the prettiest dog. I would never watch, because I knew this was the way the judges always went. I dont mean to offend people with small dogs, but thats just me.

So my husband and i were talking about this last night that you now see in the top breeds you never saw before, ie, dalmations, bull terriers, the woldfhound, getman shephards, just to name a few. he said he thinks judges are are now playing to what eh audiences want and that raises big $$ at the shows and on TV
