I think pet insurance is a very good idea if money is an issue. :y_the_best:

If I didn't currently have a really good, really inexpensive vet, I'd probably look into insurance.

When Chester & Lizzy were first diagnosed with CRF (plus Lizzy had a damaged leg and the vet discovered cancer, and both had minor gum infections), we spent around $600 in 2 days just on tests, x-rays, and meds . But we've since switched vets. Any shots they need we can get through the military vet at cost. For emergencies we go to an excellent civilian vet. When Romeo ate sawdust (hardwood sawdust is toxic, btw), he spent 2 days at the vet being pumped full of antibiotics then had about 1 1/2 weeks worth of antibiotics afterwards. The whole thing only cost $33.

my only problem with pet insurance is its lack of covering genetic issues (which are usually the more costly) or pre-existing.
With 4 pets my premiums would be more than I give the vet a month normally.
Hell I can't afford health insurance for myself :x

I don't have health insuranse for my pets, I don't think it is as common here as in the US... I can't afford it now anyway. So far my pets have been pretty healthy, but I'm very well aware that something might happen any day :?
