Why do they do what they do.

A few years ago we lost our German Shepard. The year before that we found out she had a inoperative tumor on her liver. Around a week or two before she left us she did the strangest thing. Just about every time we went out she would go in the bathroom and very carefully remove one wash cloth and bring it into the living room and place it in the middle of the floor. It would be perfectly flat as if you had spread it out on a table with not one wrinkle in it. She would only do this when we left her for the day, she had the run of the house and never touched anything in our home over all the years.
Any ideas what she was trying to tell us ????

What a mysterious story. I have no idea what her message might havebeen but due to the timing she must have been trying to tell you something. Maybe a behavior specialist will respond with an explanation.

I think she probably knew how sick she was and wanted something of yours to be with when you were gone.

Just a thought. If Harely is missing me, she will get to something of mine and sleep on it the whole day I'm gone.

It is a nice story though, and a great memory I'm sure.

This stumps me too. Maybe in case she had an accident. I'm sure she saw what you do in the bathroom.
My terrier has had a couple of accidents in the beginning, but the were right in the front of the tiolet. Boy was I surprised, I did not know wether to praise him or not. Wish my answer was better. I know it sounded silly sorry.

In all the time we had her she never went in our home even as a pup there was not much training to get her to go out side. When Baby (her name) would start to get sick she would run to one of us and put her head in our lap and give a look of I need to throw up let me out. The wash cloth on the floor so neat well haunt me till the day I die, did I miss something she was trying to tell me that could have gave her more time.

We all wonder that about our friends who have left us. But I don't think there was anything else you could have done. Whatever her reason for the towel, she was a happy dog who died loved and well-cared for.

  8. Dear Pyrs, Do not do that to yourself! You sound like someone who takes great pride in taking care of your furbabies. We don't know why God chose to take your beloved pet home when he did, but I'm sure you did all you could do for him while he was with you. Be thankful (and I'm sure you are) for all the wonderful memories you will always have. Please don't beat yourself up over this! You don't deserve that :D Perhaps he just needed it for comfort.....

Take care and hold your head up high :D
