Probably not. When Rocky was 6 months old I went on vacation for 2 weeks and when I came back he was happpier than ever to see me and he still remembered all of his training.

I felt that way when I left mine for vacation the first time...and every other time...LOL... They remember me and were so excited when young...but now at this age they certainly express their issues with my leaving... Honijade is the worse... She pouts at me and gives me nasty looks for about a week...LOL... But she DOES remember me and as a pup she did too...she was only 11 weeks old that first vacation....

years upon years ago  (I think there were still Hobbits) when I was a teenager we had a shepherd/husky mix named Ginger. Ginger wasn't a very nice dog but she adored my best friend, and if we went away for the day my friend would go to the house and make sure Ginger got outside to do her thing.

Time went by, we grew up and some years later my friend came to visit me. By now Ginger was about 14 years old and getting rather feeble.

As I mentioned Ginger was never a very nice dog - but she remembered Barbara !!! She hadn't seen her in at least 8 years - but she greeted Barbara like a long-lost friend

I had the same question when we left Nala at 7 months old. Of course, she remembered me just fine and her training as well.

I was told at that time that it takes a puppy something like 6 months to forget someone and an adult dog remembers for years. I bet some puppies do, too.

We have 2 dogs, our 8 yr old keeshound will be staying at the our Vet's kennel. My mom agreed to take our 5 mon. maltipoo (she need to much attention to be left at the kennel) It took so long for our keeshound to accept the new puppy in his life. Let's hope he doesn't think we've given him away. I feel more at ease reading your replies.
