would someone remind me why I love Zeus

:-# I am now sporting a nice straight line of puncture marks across my shoulder blades [-( from trying to clip the Little Fella's 28 claws the other night. I didn't even really want to clip all of them just the extra toe ones on his back feet as they were getting too long. Zeus was able to wrestle me to the floor :0009: and ran over my back...multiple times...the line of puncture wounds he left on my back couldn't have been any straighter if he'd used a level.

And I have to admit it pissed me off :m36: so I stood up, stitched up my back  and I was determined Zeus was getting a 100% manicure on ALL 28 claws - and he knew it tool - he took off for Mexico. I chased him around the house (well not chase but stalked him) till I could get him. And get him I did. Took him into our entry room to use him as an example of what happens when the kitties make meowmy bleed. So missy, Tilly and foster Dora started placing bets on who was going to win this round.

I tucked Zeus into my knees, and he knew I was pissed - he didn't move a muscle, and started clipping 28 claws. Yeah he growled at me but he didn't do anything else (I think it was the threat of making him spend from then on to eternity living in the closest).

So I got all 28 claws clipped \:D/ and released the beast. As Zeus sat glaring at me, putting a hex on my head I'm sure, I asked him if it hurt...did it really hurt. I told him if it's DIDN'T hurt to continue glaring at me and whipping his tail back and forth. Since he continued to glare at me and swish his tail I took it as a sign that he was unhurt - whereas I was continuing to bleed.

I lub my Little Fella Zeus - but I'm getting his claws clipped far far away the next time....paying the vet to do that is well worth the cost

LOL Mary! You love him because he's so unique (and pretty darn cute too)! Hope those cuts heal up nice and quick. Let the groomers deal with him next time!

LOL, Mary. I feel your pain! I had to give Romeo some Benadryl last week (long story about him and a bee and a vet trip) and he got me real good as he leaped out of my arms. I think I need to clip his nails too. I know why you love Zeus. It's because he's so darn cute and has such a unique personality.

What happened to Romeo and you Chessmind? Want to know. Make the long story short! Are you both ok? Didn't Juliet get a bee sting in the past?

LOL, Vene. Yes, Juliet has been stung by a bee on her paw, as well as Romeo. However, they both still have not understood that bees hurt! As you know they are both harness trained and I take them outside a few times a day. Anyway, I didn't even see any bees, but apparently Romeo must have tried to eat one or put his mouth on one, because he got stung right in his lip area. His whole face started to swell up. I was so worried, because even his nose was swelling up. I brought them back inside. I knew I had to rush over to the vet, but I was worried about him not being able to breath, due to the swelling of his nose. So, I gave him some liquid Benadryl. He did not like that at all (very bitter for cats). He leaped out of my arms and in the process he scratched me really good on both of my arms. Then, I rushed him to the vet, where they gave him several injections and kept him there for 4-5 hours to make sure he would be okay. The swelling went down and he was okay, but it was scary to see his face swell up like that.

That was hilarious, although I'm sorry you got scratched!! Honest to god, tho, you'd think you were trying to murder the little beasts! I can get Puck and Tigger done okay if I wrap them up in a towel and they'll succumb, albeit unwillingly. Usually I have to chase Simon around for 10 minutes (he's still little and fast) and he hollers the whole time, "stop it, you're KILLING ME!!!". I have to totally encase him in towel and unwrap one paw at a time. Goliath is easy - he's about 24 lbs and is arthritic so he doesn't do too much moving, but Molly is a nightmare. I have to (a) try to sneak up on her and throw a towel over her while she's asleep, or (b) spend 45 minutes chasing her around the house till she makes the Big Mistake and runs into the bathroom, and then she growls the whole time. She got locked in the closet by mistake when she was a baby and tore one of her claws out, so that one grows twice as fast now and curls under, so unfortunately we have to go through it on a weekly basis with her.
