I have a sad story about my Saint Bernard, Johnny Black. He is an epileptic, and things were going very well for him due to being on medicine, but on Monday, July, 19, 2004, he got a Rabies Vaccination. This morning on July 22, 2004, he regretfully passed away. It was such a hard time for my husband and I, because Johnny was the best dog in the world. He loved everyone and was a very dedicated companion, I would just like to add that he will always be in our hearts and will be very missed.

I am so sorry to hear about your loss. Please spread the word that vaccinations are not always a good idea when the dog has other health issues. It can't bring your dog back, but maybe you can save someone else from going through the same thing.

Johnny Black is in good company at the Bridge - several friends have dogs that have passed in the last week or so.

Again, I am so sorry for your loss. I just posted this in another thread, but it is one of my favorites when these terrible things happen:

    I STOOD BY YOUR BED

I stood by your bed last night,
I came to have a peep.
I could see that you were crying,
You found it hard to sleep.

    I whined to you softly
As you brushed away a tear,
    "It's me, I haven't left you,
    I'm well, I'm fine, I'm here."

I was close to you at breakfast,
I watched you pour the tea,
You were thinking of the many times,
Your hands reached down to me.

I was with you at the shops today,
    Your arms were getting sore.
I longed to take your parcels,
I wish I could do more.

I was with you at my grave today,
You tend it with such care.
    I want to re-assure you,
    That I'm not lying there.

I walked with you towards the house,
As you fumbled for your key.
I gently put my paw on you,
I smiled and said "It's me."

    You looked so very tired,
    And sank into a chair,
I tried so hard to let you know,
    That I was standing there.

    It's possible for me,
To be so near you every day.
To say to you with certainty,
    "I never went away."

    You sat there very quietly,
Then smiled, I think you knew…
In the stillness of that evening,
I was very close to you.

    The day is over…
I smile and watch you yawning,
    And say, "good-night, God Bless,
I'll see you in the morning."

An when the time is right for you,
    To cross the brief divide,
I'll rush across to greet you,
And we'll stand, side by side.

I have so many things to show you,
There is so much for you to see.
Be patient, live your journey out…
Then come home to be with me.

I'm very sorry..... I had a saint when I was younger. He was very big, and very devoted to our whole family.

IM very sorry for your loss. Losing a pet is such a hard thing to go through.
I have a foster who has a lowered immune system and she is unable to get any vaccinations or be spayed because of it. But yet I have had one rescue I work with pushing me to have her spayed and vaccinated I refuse to do it because I know what the consequences may be if I do.

I'm sorry. I just lost Charllotte a day ago as well. I'm sure they are playing and watching over each other in the big field!

I'm so sorry to hear about your Johnny. To loose a pet can cause such a void in your life, I know. Just take comfort in memories and knowing pets wait patiently for all Loved Ones to be reunited again.
