yes you can get them done earlier. some shelters do it at 8 weeks. my kitten, who did not come from a shelter, was done at 12 weeks.

Two of mine were done at 4 months. It really depends on your vet ....some won't do it until 6 months of age and others will do it sooner.

Hi Momma. Like it was mentioned, it just depends on the vet. Some kittens get spayed/neutered either at 8 weeks or 2 lbs! That's so young, but a lot of rescue groups/shelters do it this young, as they don't want kittens leaving without being fixed.

There is a lot of information and I would have to say controversy about this. I had read someplace before that vets will snip the kitties very very early, however there is some concern over the correlation between kitties being snipped at an early age (before their sex organs are fully developed) and the Urinary Tract Problems that cats (males in particular can develop).
I waited untill Hunter was a little older than six months and the vet went by physical characteristics rather than age...she said to wait untill he had his big boy fangs, and stuff needed to drop.
    So, that's what we did.
I have heard you should wait untill they spray atleast once. I don't think Hunter ever did.
