Hehe, I agree! People always think I must have some huge dog, but Nala is only around 50 pounds and border collie-sized, LOL.

Hey Piper's Mom if you can find Buddy a job like that so that he can earn his keep I am ALL for it!! You think they would be able to come up with something!

    mamabear: Consider me on it!

Good news from West Paw Designs. This is the email response I received:

    Dear Lisa,
Thank you for purchasing a West Paw Hurley. Yes, there is a small chance that the Hurley you purchased was defective. I believe it to be far more likely that your Pit Bull Terrier is just one of the few dogs that can chew through it. I will be happy to honor the Hurley guarantee by sending you a refund for it. I do request that you return the one that has been damaged with proof of purchase so that we can see exactly what happened.

I am happy to hear this company does stand behind their product as stated and that they responded to my email quickly. I am bummed that this toy hasn't worked out for Piper (I had high hopes), but I will say it gave her the biggest challenge yet. I would recommend it to others.

This may not be the best idea but have you considered giving him non-dog toys to chew on. Indy will chew on basically anything and considering the high prices of toys, I buy him other things. The thing that has lasted the longest are rubbermaid storage bins (I didn't actually buy these for him - he sort of took them). THey are the big kind. He chews on them but mostly he gets a kick out of dragging them around the yard. He also likes plastic pot container things - they are free if you buy a plant. They don't last but they are free. And I also admit to giving Indy shoes to chew on(not the best idea I know but whatever). He loves them and the good leather sneakers (they were old)have lasted him quite a while. If I find one I am going to try giving Indy an old tire - I figure that could hopefully last against him. I'm sure there are a million other things that could essentially make good dog toys that are cheap. Of course you have to make sure there are no small parts or sharp things, etc. Just a thought from someone who has spent lots of $$$ on $10+ dog toys that last 5 mins.

Just a quick follow-up regarding West Paw:

I received my refund check this weekend. This company was great to work with. They were quick to respond to my corresondence and to follow through with a check. It is nice to do business with a company that actually stands behind its products and makes good on its promises!
