dogs and milk

    i have a 4 and a half month old pit bull puppy, is it healthy to give them milk every now and than i havent yet im just curious!?

    I don't think its the best idea. Maybe some one else can better answer the ?, but I wouldn't. Its uneccesary to give them milk and I think it may actually be hard on their stomachs. Warm milk or room temp would probably be better then right out of the fridge. I'm not sure though, so dont take my word for 100%.

    My vet told me cows milk is really not good for dogs. He gave a reason but its been awhile so I dont remember. But I have heard that a few other places too. You could check with your vet before giving it to your puppy.

    It's not really a good idea to give a puppy cows milk because the lactose in the milk is hard to digest. It can cause diarrhra and gas. If you feel you would like to give some milk, a little soy milk might not hurt.

    Yes, cows milk is very hard on a dog's digestive system as others have said. If you want to give your pup milk I would suggest goats milk or a milk replacer such as litterlac or esbilac.
