You won't believe what the boy did yesterday, he jumped TOO far to win a medal.
In DockDogs you compete with other dogs that jump in you division for each event. The divisions are Novice, under 10', Juniors, 10' to 14'11", Seniors 15' to 19'11" and so on.
In each event you get two jumps and the longest counts.
In Duke's first event his first jump was 14' 9" and after the first round he was in first place in the Junior Division.
On his second jump he nailed 15' 0" but you figure it out. Right, he improved by 3" however he went from first place in the Junior Division to LAST place in the Senior Division. He was however awarded a Senior Division qualifying ribbon which will count toward a Senior Jumper Title in the future if he keeps jumping in that division.
In his second event he jumped his best ever at 16' 8" but still no medal as most dogs in the Senior Division jump over 17'. He did qualify for the Senior Division finals and ended up earning three Senior Qualifier ribbons for the day.
You might say that yesterday he graduated high school but must now start over as a college freshman.
