    Hi everyone.
I took Floob back to the vet this morning for his checkup, and he got the all clear :D

He's happy with how he's heeling and said to just finish the antibiotics and call him back if I'm woried about anything.

He also suggested I carry a rape alarm with me. He says the noise is so high pitch that it stops a dog in it's tracks, which is better than having to beat the thing off... should it happen again. I'll get one but whether it'll work or not I'm not so sure about.

Floob's not so good mentally. He bolted yesterday when we met a dog we'd seen before. He took one look and was gone right down the field out of sight :( I ran after him and he actually came straight to me when he stopped and looked behind him to see it was only me there. I reassured him and gave him some chicken, then went back to the other dog with him on his leash. He was really weary but walking okish within 5 minutes or so. He's shying away from people too. I know he senses my fear, which I've NEVER had, but I just can't help it. I know he'll get there tho, yep yep.

It'll take him a little time as it's still fesh in his mind. You know one of the times when we had a dog rush us,(small rotty looking dog about 40 lbs.) he jumped all over rufus, rufus was agile enough. He was basically up all over his face waiting for him to fight him. But it happened so fast, I scared the dog off, somehow without any punctures. He did seem to have a sore neck the next day and would shake his head. But for the next weeks to follow when we were in the area where it happened, rufus would walk close to me, and keep looking up to me to make sure I felt everything was ok. He is still fine with dogs after the different incidents we had with different dogs. Not to mention the pit mix that jetted off his porch and hubby had to launch the poor rufus in his harness to save his leg. Dog got hair only. You know for some reason floobie came to my mind last night when I was trying to go to sleep. He'll be fine. I love border collies. They are beautiful dogs. I truly do think my rufus is part B.C.

Something you might try to help Floob - enlist the help of a friend with a dog that isn't very reactive to other dogs. Have them approach you and Floob slowly, with both dogs on a leash. When Floob starts to get nervous, have the other person stop. You and the person should talk calmly like there is nothing going on. Have the person toss treats to Floob. Gradually have them take baby steps forward, always taking Floob's lead in how close to get. This may help desensitize him to other dogs.

    good idea Jimiya,

hmmm about teh rape alarm, would that bother floob too? I was thinking of getting something like those horns to carry with me, since I want to be able to walk on my trails again without fear coyotes
