dude most of what you said is harsh but ill answer anyway

yes i bred buffy just once that will be all..im not worried about dogs in shelters i have two amazingly beautiful dogs and wanted and amazingly beautiful puppy from them

    have you addopted? just currious

its true i dont know much about the breed but i had seen buffy b4 i bought her and played with her and twas love at first site

lol i already said i agree COMPLETELY with all the advice given so far what makes you think im not listening? buffy will go to a trainer asap nothing would make me happier than to be able to take her anywhere

crate train.. buffy comes as she pleases sometimes she sleeps in the bed but bruiser likes it outside mostly but during the day there both outside in a fenced yard

i will never be convinced buffy would badly hurt bruiser i said she hurt him at first but then they got used to eachother and like i said he doesnt even bark so even if buffy gets all pissy he wont encourage conflict id bet my own life on it

ohh and registered.. i got buffy from a breeder and she came with a cirtificate paper but hell i didnt even look at it and couldnt even tell you where it is now. should it mean something to me? (seriously im asking)
bruiser didnt have any papers he came from a backyard breeder but i saw both parents and they apeared healthy

in end buffy IS a great dog i didnt train her to do anything i didnt even potty train her she just figured it out and the only concern i have with her is the agression and i will take care of it asap

sry that took so long and no flame intended just trying to clear the air
    thanks again everyone laterz

Kylie do you have dog aggressive breeds or any experience with them? Case closed... I'm being realistic and if this person were to go on a Pit Bull forum everyone would say the same thing I did... do not ever trust a bulldog NOT to fight... DECADES of selective breeding for that specific trait assures us of that...

I have rescued a few dogs myself... I participate in transport of rescue dogs and donate time and money to shelters etc... That's one reason I know how many pit bulls in particular are in rescue and the shape of those dogs...that's one reason I don't breed Pit Bulls... I wanted to badly till I learned more about their plight with bannings as well as cruel owners who fight dogs and other things...

I own two Pit Bulls who are well cared for and happy! I rescued my current female's littermate sister and they got along DANDY...I've always picked up toys and all my dogs are crate trained for their own safety... In fact the two sisters slept on one another during nap time occasionally... They bickered from time to time but with corrections and obedience all was well... I was quite pleased with myself and beleived both dogs to be COLD but also beleived what the wise old dogmen say about Bulldogs so they were crated when not home, toys put up when they were out together and play was never allowed to get too serious... For months all was well... One day I was out with my female playing with her flirt pole...the sister dog was in another part of the yard and secure (so I thought)... All of the sudden she came out of nowhere and took the toy from the flirt pole...My female, used to playing tug as a puppy with her buddy my male...took the other end of the toy for a game... The sister female layed into my girl who proceeded to ROLL her sister at least THREE yards accrossed my yard...we grabbed them but too late... My female had her sister by the throat...we could hear her gurgling... My BF was there and was working on getting in there to help me out... My female released for a second and grabbed the sister's shoulder... My BF had to choke my "cold" dog out of the hold and we had to take her sister to the vet for her puncture wounds... The two of them may as well have just played a good game of fetch is the way they were acting when all was over... The entire thing happened within 5 minutes or less... I can't imagine what could happen if my female decided to do something like that during my work day... away for 6 or so hours at a time... I'd rather never know what could happen...so...there's no opportunity FOR something to happen... THAT is my point...

Apparently some people are happy with the risks they take... I choose not to take those risks... Either the risk of a bad fight in my house due to some unknown cause when I'm not home with two powerfull dogs who could kill eachother... Nor the risk that the puppies I produce could go to a fighter or end up in a shelter or dead because of cruelty... More negative surrounds this breed than any other and I do my best to keep it at BAY...including producing dogs from a female that is too shy to properly socialize her puppies or form a female who is too dog aggressive to be responsibly handled by a laymen...

I'm done with the thread... I'm uhappy that more APBT advocates and responsible breeders haven't spoken up here yet... perhaps we're all to busy with our own dogs... But I know I'm not the only one here who feels this way...

You still never mentioned if the dogs are registered? Age??? Health tests???

I am in total agreement with your analogy of Bull dogs. Two bull dogs living together can be the best of friends for the most part, but it is in their nature that normal "play" can escalate into a full blown blood bath resulting in death or serious injury to one or both of the dogs.

Having pit bulls has the added responsibility and caution attached to it. People who don't act responsible or take the necessary caution are the reason so much attention is placed on the breed.

I have a male and a female (spayed and neutered) that live together in great harmony. But I have seen times when a normal game of chase or tug-of-war with a rope could escalate into aggession. That is why I'm always present to monitor playing or anything else when the two are together. Also my dogs become agitated when someone walks down the alley or a car drives down it. Something like this could cause them to do what comes natural and "launch" on one another. Not because they don't like one another.

That is why when I'm not there to monitor them, they are separated from one another.

Also with pit bulls you should be prepared with a break stick to separate them if in case they should get into a scuffle. Chances are they won't but be preparred if they do. Know the proper way to do it.

Pit bulls are not for the nonchalant dog owner who wants to own a dog without putting out much effort into training, obedience, socialization, and monitoring. If a person is in denial of what their capabilities are, they could be setting themselves up for disaster.

If a person is willing to take on the committment, bull dogs are the most wonderful companion/family dogs you could ever want. There is just a little bit of added effort involved. But it is well worth it.

Seams like we are completely drifting out of topic here (and getting a little too aggressive in the process - Sara :? ).
