i dont know what kind of bird this is

Hello
a bird flew into my window tonight and has quite a bit of a headache. I have personally never seen this kind of bird before. And i was wondering if someone could help me out any.
I live in British Columbia. on Vancouver Island.
The bird is a dark greyish brown colour.
and looks very similar to a pigeon
It has black webbed feet
and a white patch above its tail
it also has a large bump on the top of its beak
can anyone help me out?

 

I haven't the slightest idea sorry! The only that I could say is to do a google search. Use google to find like a bird finder or something and that may have something to help you the net usually has stuff like that. Sorry that I couldn't help you but, I don't know a great deal about wild birds.
