i went to the dwarf puffer website and found out a little about breeding.

It said a lot about getting live moss for your puffers so that they could breed in there.

Do you absolutely need moss to breed them? And if so is there ne other fish you could put with a pair of mates?

I don't know much about breeding puffers, but I do know that sexing them can be difficult/nearly impossible when they're young. They are also very aggressive. It's best to keep either 1 or several (5 or more) and have a heavily planted tank (either live or fake plants). They're generally too aggressive for most other fish to be tankmates.
