I've had really bad snail infestations since I first started using live plants. I've tried nuking tanks with bleach (including soaking the plants in a dilute bleach sollution), chemicals, bait (lettuce is supposed to work), and really, nothing completely got rid of the snails. I ended up getting a trio of clown loaches (which I don't really recommend since your tank is pretty small) and they keep the popultion pretty much under control.

My best suggestion is to crush them or remove them as you see them.
